Intensive Reviews

Texas Government Code Section 801.202(2) instructs the PRB to conduct intensive studies of potential or existing problems that threaten actuarial soundness. Intensive reviews and system updates are provided to the governor and legislative leadership offices biennially.

The Board selects systems for review by examining key metrics to gauge a system’s actuarial health. Staff then conducts an in-depth analysis of the actuarial condition of the system, including projections of future funded status under various investment return scenarios. The system and sponsor are invited to provide initial input and written responses for inclusion in the final published report. Additionally, the system and sponsor are both invited to attend PRB meetings to discuss the review’s findings, answer questions, and provide updates.
